TEN88 LONG RANGE

This Isn't a Flat Range.

Real mountains. Real weather. Real terrain.

A three-day long-range shooting experience in the mountains of Downey, Idaho.

This Isn't a Flat Range

Ten88 Long Range was built around real-world shooting and real-world hunting applications.

We don't train from a flat range with only benches and known distances. Our students shoot in real mountain terrain with changing winds, canyons, elevation, natural obstacles, changing weather, and the same equipment they take into the field.

Students learn to build stable shooting positions from the terrain around them, read conditions, understand angles, use rangefinders and field equipment, and make confident decisions when the shot is no longer simple.

The mountain is always talking—great shooters learn to listen.

The Ten88 Experience

This is more than a shooting class.

Ten88 Long Range is a three-day mountain experience built around great instruction, real-world shooting, great food, comfortable lodging, and the kind of camaraderie that happens when good people spend a weekend together in the mountains.

More Than Range Time

Guests stay with us at our off-grid mountain lodge in Downey, Idaho. The experience includes lodging, meals, instruction, range time, field equipment, and evenings spent together after the rifles are put away.

From the Range to the Table

Meals are part of the experience at Ten88. Guests aren't expected to finish a long day in the mountains and then figure out dinner. We serve quality meals throughout the weekend so everyone can sit down together, share stories, laugh, and get ready for the next day.

Stay on the Mountain

Instead of leaving the range at the end of the day, our guests stay right here. The lodge provides comfortable sleeping accommodations, showers, towels, Starlink Wi-Fi, and cell service while still giving guests the feeling of being away from everything.

The Porch

Some of the best parts of a Ten88 weekend happen after the shooting stops. Evenings on the porch, around the fire, or sitting together over dinner give shooters, instructors, veterans, hunters, fathers, sons, daughters, and friends a chance to simply spend time together.

More Than a Weekend

Our goal isn't for someone to leave Ten88 feeling like they attended another class. We want them to leave with greater confidence as a shooter, memories from the mountains, and relationships that continue long after they drive away.

Three Days. One Complete Experience.

From the moment you arrive Friday afternoon until the final shots on Sunday, every part of the weekend is designed to build confidence, capability, and real-world long-range shooting skills.

Friday

Arrive & Settle In

Arrive at Ten88 by 3:00 PM.

Get settled into the lodge, meet the instructors and other shooters, and get familiar with the property.

Friday evening includes our safety orientation and course briefing, followed by dinner and time together at the lodge.

Saturday

Build the Foundation

Saturday begins by establishing baseline shots so our instructors can see where each shooter is starting.

After breakfast, we move into classroom instruction covering the fundamentals and concepts that will be applied in the mountains.

Then we leave the classroom and put those lessons to work in real terrain—working through changing distances, wind, angles, shooting positions, and field conditions.

The day builds toward Ten88's signature steel at 1,088 yards.

Sunday

Take It to the Mountain

Sunday moves farther into field application.

Shooters work through realistic mountain scenarios using the equipment, positions, decision-making, and skills developed throughout the weekend.

The goal is not simply to hit steel. It's to understand why the shot worked, recognize when it won't, and leave Ten88 capable of applying those lessons in the field.

When time and conditions allow, shooters may have additional opportunities to shoot before wrapping up the weekend.

Ethical Long-Range Hunting

Knowing You Can Make the Shot Isn't the Same as Knowing You Should.

Long-range hunting isn't about finding the maximum distance you can hit a target. An ethical hunting shot requires understanding the entire situation before the trigger is ever pressed.

At Ten88, we teach shooters to evaluate both their own capability and the capability of their equipment before deciding whether a shot should be taken.

Terminal Energy Matters

Hitting an animal isn't enough.

Hunters need to understand whether their caliber, bullet, velocity, and remaining energy at the target are appropriate for the animal being hunted.

A rifle may be capable of reaching a distance where the bullet no longer has the terminal performance needed for an ethical shot.

Shot Placement

Distance doesn't change the responsibility for proper shot placement.

Shooters learn to consider the animal's position, angle, vital area, and the consequences of an imperfect shot before deciding to fire.

Conditions Change the Answer

Wind, terrain, shooting position, stability, weather, distance, and the shooter's current ability all affect whether a shot that was possible yesterday is appropriate today.

Know Your Limit

The goal isn't to teach hunters how far they can shoot.

It's to help them understand how far they should shoot.

Sometimes the best decision a hunter can make is not pulling the trigger.

Who Ten88 Is For

Start Where You Are. Build From There.

Ten88 is built for shooters who want to become more capable and confident in real-world conditions.

You don't need to arrive as an expert long-range shooter. Our instruction is designed to meet shooters where they are, reinforce the fundamentals, and then progressively move those skills from the classroom and baseline shooting into the mountains.

101Build the Foundation

Ten88 101 focuses on the fundamentals required to make consistent, repeatable shots.

Shooters work through rifle setup, fundamentals, equipment, rangefinding, ballistic information, wind, angles, stable shooting positions, and understanding what is happening before, during, and after the shot.

The goal is confidence in the fundamentals—not simply reaching a distant target.

201Take the Skills into the Mountains

Ten88 201 builds on those fundamentals and moves farther into real-world field application.

Shooters move through mountain terrain, work from changing positions, engage silhouette targets, solve shooting problems created by terrain and conditions, and apply the skills they have developed without relying on a traditional flat firing line.

The progression finishes with an obstacle scenario designed to bring multiple skills together.

Built Around the Shooter

People arrive at Ten88 with different backgrounds, experience levels, physical abilities, and goals.

We've worked with shooters ranging in age from approximately 12 to 75, and the experience can be adapted so each shooter can learn, progress, and safely participate within their abilities.

Meet Your Instructors

Experience Built in the Mountains—and in the Real World.

Ten88 instruction is built around real experience. Our instructors bring backgrounds in law enforcement, military service, SWAT and sniper operations, professional training, and decades of hunting and shooting in mountain terrain.

The goal isn't to impress students with a résumé. It's to take lessons learned through years of training and real-world experience and turn them into practical skills our shooters can understand and use.

Kyle Jeffries

Kyle began hunting with his family at eight years old, learning in the mountains alongside his father, uncles, and other family members.

He later served six years in the United States Air Force before beginning a 22-year career in law enforcement.

During his law-enforcement career, Kyle served in assignments that included SWAT, sniper duties, detective work, and narcotics operations. His experience included formal marksmanship and sniper training as well as years of applying shooting fundamentals in demanding environments.

Throughout his military and law-enforcement careers, hunting remained a constant. Decades spent hunting mountain terrain helped shape the philosophy behind Ten88: shooting skills should work outside the classroom and away from a flat firing line.

Ten88 brings those experiences together—professional training, practical marksmanship, lifelong hunting, and a respect for what it means to make responsible decisions in the field.

Kyle also serves on the board of Utah Freedom Hunt and as an ambassador for Backcountry Veterans, continuing his commitment to honoring fellow veterans through meaningful outdoor experiences.

His work with Backcountry Veterans recently included helping make a special Wyoming buffalo hunt possible for a 90-year-old Navy veteran and his family—an experience that created memories spanning generations.

Clint Shaw — Long-Range Instructor / SWAT Sniper Instructor

Clint started shooting at a very young age with a BB gun on a farm and grew up hunting birds before moving into big-game hunting around age 14.

Much of that hunting took place on public land, where getting close to animals was often difficult. In the early 1990s, Clint began researching long-range shooting and acquiring the equipment and knowledge needed to extend his capabilities in the field.

He also developed experience with archery and muzzleloader hunting from a young age.

In his early twenties, Clint began a career with the sheriff's office. His law-enforcement experience expanded his firearms background through handgun and AR-platform training and eventually SWAT and sniper training.

Clint attended sniper school and went on to serve as a SWAT sniper. He was also a SWAT sniper instructor, training other snipers.

His background combines decades of hunting, long-range shooting, law-enforcement firearms training, and practical field knowledge.

At Ten88, Clint uses that experience to help shooters understand not just what adjustment to make, but why it works and how to apply it when conditions and terrain change.

Rick Minor

Instructor • Hunting GuideRange Safety Officer

Rick has spent more than 20 years guiding hunters with some of the largest outfitters across the West. Known around camp as “the elk whisperer,” he has built his reputation on reading animals, terrain, and conditions and helping hunters make ethical decisions in the field.

He has attended more than 15 long-range shooting schools and has helped instruct at several of them. At Ten88, Rick brings the hunting side of long-range shooting into the classroom and onto the mountain, helping students understand how terrain, wind, shooting position, and equipment come together when the shot really matters.

Rick has also spent years supporting Utah Freedom Hunt and wounded-veteran elk hunts. His focus at Ten88 is simple: help people become more capable, ethical hunters and make sure what they learn on the range carries into the field.

Rick is also a skilled stonemason who, alongside Kyle's daughter, built the stone fireplace at the Ten88 lodge. Today, that fireplace is the heart of the lodge, where students, instructors, and veterans gather to share stories, build friendships, and enjoy the camaraderie that makes Ten88 special.

The Ten88 Mission

Some Things Are Bigger Than Shooting.

Ten88 Long Range was built around shooting, hunting, the mountains, and the relationships that are formed when people spend meaningful time together.

For owner and founder Kyle Jeffries, the veteran mission is personal.

Kyle served six years in the United States Air Force before beginning his 22-year law enforcement career. Years later, a donated veteran elk hunt organized by Utah Freedom Hunt at Queen Mountain Lodge in Wyoming rekindled his desire to give back to fellow veterans. That experience reminded him how much the outdoors, camaraderie, and generosity of others can mean to someone who has served.

That experience helped shape what Ten88 is becoming today.

Veterans and Civilians — Together

Ten88 isn't designed to separate veterans from everyone else.

Our paid civilian shooters and veteran guests share the same lodge, meals, mountains, instruction, range, stories, and experiences.

That combination is intentional.

People arrive with different backgrounds, but for a few days they are simply part of the same group.

The Ten88 Foundation

Ten88 is developing the Ten88 Foundation, a planned nonprofit organization intended to help provide outdoor and mountain experiences for veterans.

The long-term mission extends beyond shooting. The vision includes opportunities built around the outdoors, camaraderie, recreation, and time spent with people who understand the value of simply getting veterans together again.

20%

Of Every Paid Shooter

Ten88 Long Range is committed to setting aside 20% of each paid shooter's course fee to support veteran experiences and, as the Ten88 Foundation is established, help fund its veteran mission.

That means every paying shooter who comes through Ten88 isn't only investing in their own experience—they are helping us build opportunities for veterans as well.
